Yapter is a PHP template engine. Yapter is a PHP template engine.Using Yapter could come in handy at some points during web development. Yapter lets you separate your PHP code fully from the necessary HTML. If all your pages differ an awful lot from each other, using Yapter could not be recommended, but in most cases usage of Yapter is very handy indeed. Especially since most websites contain pages that look very alike (e.g. the same webdesign and pagebuilding structures). Wouldn't it be great to let somebody do the programming behind a website, while somebody else takes care of the actual webdesign? Or - if you develop a website completely on your own - wouldn't it be cool if you could change the layout of some site instantly by modifying only HTML and leave the PHP scripts untouched? To do so, you'll need to have two separate development layers with an appropriate connection. Notice by now that you have all the tools for realising such a concept.The things that Yapter does are not much different from the other template engines around. Yapter reads a main file, your template's base file, and from there prepares the file for the necessary things. The preparing procedure includes searching for included files and, if necessary, recursively make a function call to include files in these included files. Furthermore, the preparing routine also searches for blocks and variables.The power of Yapter is held in its template's flexibility.Yapter can handle variables in the form of {variable} (a variable name between curly brackets). In your PHP program, you can let Yapter replace these variables in a template file by the actual content that is needed for it.
